I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend! Here are the latest happenings in the Collaborative program grades 4-7:
*Attending all three workshops will allow students to have exposure to three different paint media, but students are still welcome if they can only attend one or two workshop sessions.
I hope you all enjoy this (short!) week! For the last two weeks, students have worked in collaborative teams to become experts in one specific Viking related topic. Yesterday, each group presented their research and taught the rest of the class about their topic. Additionally, students created their name plates with Viking Runes in the Maker Space which you can see hanging on the wall. Interested in knowing how to navigate the great curriculum resource Discovery Education? Please fill out the Doodle Poll with your available time for a parent educator workshop here. Thanks so much and have a great week! Hi Families,
It was wonderful to see so many of you at Valley Park on Friday evening! This week is very exciting for the Homeschool Collaborative since 1. we will be able to make the move into our new classroom and 2. student workshops begin! Please see the attached document for the student roster and let me know if there are any changes with your student’s attendance. I will be sending out another email the closer we get to Thursday detailing drop off/pick up and what to bring. PEC 1: Our first parent educator conference of the year, will be held on Weds., August 31st at the Hawthorne Memorial Center. See the DVIA newsletter for more info. I strongly encourage you to attend. Michelle Rainey will get the day started with inspiring words and useful information. A team of our veteran Homeschool Collaborative educators (Heidi, Shiori and Victoria) will share their strategies for developing student passion-inspired learning and lead our group in creating your own plan (based on your child(ren)’s interests) to use at home. There will be a selection of mini-sessions intended to fill your toolkit and we will end, as always, with a raffle. Be on the lookout for SignUpGenius invites to ST Math password training and (optional) MAPS Assessment dates ASAP. Thanks so much and have a wonderful second week! Best, Ethel |
