Today, the students:
Lit Wits grades 3/4 will be reading The Year of Billy Miller by Kevin Henkes.
Lit Wits grades 5/6 will be reading Fish by L.S. Matthews.
Each group will be following a reading schedule so that we can experience the books at the same time along with thousands of other students who are also reading. I'm really looking forward to all of the connections that we will be making! For more information about Global Read Aloud, please check out their website: http://theglobalreadaloud.com/about-the-gra/
2day we read Wumbers as we continued our author study of Amy Krouse Rosenthal. Wumbers is both a book and game that has words cre8ed with numbers. We reviewed vocabulary words: orn8, el8ed, overinfl8ed, bel8ed. Students shared connections about each vocabulary word. Before we jumped in2 reading, we discussed the sounds of the numbers and how 2 read them within the wumbers. Students had a 1derful time reading 2gether and paying a10tion to the wumbers on each page. After we read, students cr8ed lists of as many wumbers they could think of. We realized a lot of wumbers that contain 8's and 10's are rel8ed by how they sound. We all had a 1derful time and will not soon 4get Wumbers!
